I want to announce to you and the whole world that people need more than good advice to live godly lives; they need to hear the gospel, get filled with the Holy Spirit, and have a good example to follow.
[Romans 1:16-17 KJV] “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”
1. The Gospel
Good advice cannot transform anyone, the gospel is the power of God to save. It is in the gospel that the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith. The power that saves the world is the gospel and not good advice.
God can establish us by the gospel, not by advice. Let us preach the gospel, it’s the power of God to save.
[Romans 16:25-27 KJV] “Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,”
“but now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: to God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen. Written to the Romans from Corinthus, and sent by Phebe servant of the church at Cenchrea.”
The Holy Spirit
The second thing that people need to be transformed is the Holy Spirit. People need a touch of the Spirit. They need a touch of the anointing of the Holy Spirit. They need the sweet influence of the Holy Spirit. If a man has not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His! The Spirit is the person who effects change and transformation in us. Let us, therefore, learn to travail for the people until Christ be formed in them.
[Galatians 4:19-20 KJV] “My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you, I desire to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for I stand in doubt of you.”
People will not be transformed until we learn to pray for them. Prayer is what will change them not your little advice.
What to focus on
The third thing that transforms people is the glory they fix their gaze on. When people focus on the wrong things, they get corrupted; but when they focus on the right things; they are changed in to the same glory they behold.
[2 Corinthians 3:18 KJV] “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
