I want to speak to you today about being planted in the house of the Lord. As we wait on the Lord today, our singular heart desire and prayer is to be planted in the house of the Lord.
[Psalms 92:13-15 KJV] “Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; To shew that the Lord is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him”.
We pray that none of us shall slip from the faith and slip out of the house of God. We want to be planted in the house of the Lord. We want to come with our children and guide them to love the presence of the Lord. Like Israel, we want to go into the wilderness to sacrifice and we want to go with all of our children. I love to worship with my children by me.
Why should you be planted in the house of the Lord?
Why should you strive to be planted in the house of the Lord. Why are we spending a whole day to plead with God to plant us in His house? Many of us just come to church but are not planted in the house of the Lord. Many of us are not planted because we don’t know the benefits. When you are planted in the house of the Lord, it is for your own benefit. You benefit and not the church. What are these compelling arguments that should make each of us willing to be planted in the house of the Lord. The arguments are simple. Those who are planted in the house of the Lord experience the following blessings;
1. They shall flourish in the courts of our God:
They shall flourish. They shall increase and abound. They shall not fail. The Lord will show them good.
2. They shall bring forth fruits in their old age:
They shall never become unfruitful. They shall continue to bear fruits throughout life. This means that age will not be a barrier anymore!
3. They shall be fat and flourishing:
The Lord will cause you to fatten. You will flourish and increase. You will never deteriorate. As you abide in the house of the Lord, you will increase from strength to strength.
Many of us are chasing many things. Many of us are chasing money, chasing fame, chasing increase; but the real secret to fatness, flourishing and bearing fruits is to be planted in the house of the Lord. I pray that the Lord shall graciously plant us in His house. The Bible says that anything that the Father did not plant shall be uprooted. I pray that the Lord shall Himself plant many more in His house.
What is the House of the Lord?
There are about three things that qualify a place to be called the house of the Lord.
1. It should be a place that the Lord has chosen to put His name:
Deuteronomy 12:5-7 state clearly that we shall demolish all the altars and grooves of the idols; “But unto the place which the Lord your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there, even unto his habitation shall ye seek, and thither thou shalt come: And thither ye shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and heave offerings of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill offerings, and the firstlings of your herds and of your flocks: And there ye shall eat before the Lord your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto, ye and your households, wherein the Lord thy God hath blessed thee”.
The house of the Lord is a place where the Lord chooses to put His name. This is where we must offer our sacrifices and offerings. God wants us to rejoice when we come to His house. God wants us to come with our households.
2. The pillar and the grounds of truth:
1 Timothy 3:15 reveals this; “But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.”
The house of God is the place where truth is preached. The truth must be taught there. A real house of God is the place where truth is preach in an uncompromising way. You must be planted in place where you hear the truth.
3. A gathering of people who have gathered in the name of the Lord:
Matthew 18:20 tells us that “…where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” The house of God is a spiritual location where two or three are gathered in the name of the Lord. Therefore, the house of the Lord may not necessarily be a physical location but an assembly of worshipers.
How does God plant people?
According to 1 Corinthians 3:6-9, God plants people in His church through preaching and teaching. The Bible says “I planted, Apollos watered and God gave the increase.” Increase comes through the planting and watering. God plants us through the preaching and teaching of His servants. Therefore, anytime you find out that you are unable to receive from the men of God appointed over you, remember that something is trying to dislocate you.
You will be planted and gain roots when you submit yourself to the preaching and teaching of your pastors appointed over you. You must be given to reading and exhortation if you really want to gain roots. This is why anytime God’s word is preached to you, you must listen to catch the spirit, the content, and the blessing in the word. I pray that you will listen and catch the spirit.
The Lord will help you and take you far. May you never be taken out! May you be submitted to the teaching and preaching of your pastor in order to get well planted!
Be blessed, I love you!
