“And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord : and the Lord delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years.
And the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel: and because of the Midianites the children of Israel made them the dens which are in the mountains, and caves, and strong holds.
And so it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites came up, and the Amalekites, and the children of the east, even they came up against them; And they encamped against them, and destroyed the increase of the earth, till thou come unto Gaza, and left no sustenance for Israel, neither sheep, nor ox, nor ass. For they came up with their cattle and their tents, and they came as grasshoppers for multitude; for both they and their camels were without number: and they entered into the land to destroy it.
And Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites; and the children of Israel cried unto the Lord . And it came to pass, when the children of Israel cried unto the Lord because of the Midianites, That the Lord sent a prophet unto the children of Israel, which said unto them, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of bondage; And I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all that oppressed you, and drave them out from before you, and gave you their land; And I said unto you, I am the Lord your God; fear not the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but ye have not obeyed my voice. And there came an angel of the Lord , and sat under an oak which was in Ophrah, that pertained unto Joash the Abi–ezrite: and his son Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites. And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him, and said unto him, The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valour. And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the Lord be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt? but now the Lord hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites. And the Lord looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee? And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house. And the Lord said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man.”

Many families are impoverished by the operations of the enemies. Israel became impoverished because of the Midianites but the enemy is able to afflict us when he finds a conducive atmosphere to operate in.
If you want to break the power of the enemy, you must;
Break the power of evil habits:
Forsake doing evil in the sight of God. Israel opened the door to the enemy because they did evil in the sight of God. When you master your wrong habits; you win over all enemies.
Run to the name of the Lord:
“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and they are safe” (Proverbs 18:10). Don’t build caves and strongholds, run to the name of the Lord. He is mighty to save and save to the uttermost. The name of the Lord is a strong tower. Let us throw ourselves on the grace and mercies of God.
Be confident in God’s ability to defend His own against all aggression:
Don’t fear the gods and powers of the enemy. You encourage satanic operations and evil to fester when you fear the gods and powers of the enemy. The spirit of fear is a debilitating influence and condition. Fear paralyses, fear cripples! We must refuse to give heed to stories and teachings that exalt satanic powers and beat down the believer’s authority (Ephesians 1:19-21)
Pray:
Cry out to God; don’t be indifferent towards your condition. Many of us are indifferent to the effects of the work of the enemy and devils in our lives. We allow things to continue; and our lives are ‘business as usual’. Arise in positive defiance. Rebel against every satanic hold and fight off every satanic attack.
Honour divine messengers:
Honour prophets and angels sent to minister to us: it’s only a matter of time; and the reality begins to dawns. We must recieve prophets and angels sent to us. When Israel cried, God sent them a prophet and an angel to Gideon.
Go in your little might and pull down the altars of counterfeit gods in your life:
You don’t need great power to lead and act positively. We need speaking, praying and positive action to break the power of the enemy. God is with you, but you are not seeing His mighty work because you are not acting. You may look weak and poor and small in your own eyes, but if God is with you, you can pull down the grooves and altars of Baal. Don’t allow idolatry to continue around you. Pull down evil altars and grooves, and erect good altars.

Today’s Prayer
Dear Father,
I run to Your name; I take refuge in Your mercies from the evil that hurts. I pray that You shall empower me to witness the defeat of the enemy. Deliver me from Midian, Amalek and the children of the East.
May I see Your hand prevail against the power of the enemy.
