My message today is on how to receive power through fasting.
[Isaiah 58:3-5 KJV] “Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou seest not? wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours.”
“Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high. Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul?”
“is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD?”
Fasting is to abstain from food, exertion, and pleasures to seek the face of God.
There are many types of fasting and each one of them can be effective when approached rightly. The three common types of fasting are;
- Total fast, that abstaining of food and water for a long time or a season
- 24 hours fast, that is abstain from food and pleasures for 24 hours
- Fruit fast, this is eating no pleasant bread for a season
In any case, whether you are fasting with food and water for a season or embarking on a Fruit fast or a 24-hour fast; the secret to power through fasting is not in what you abstain from but rather on what you feed on. That is why you must always find time to pray and to soak in the word when you are fasting.
The seven simple secrets to get the most of fasting and life is to follow the following seven simple rules:
- Plan your day, the day before.
- Sleep early and rise early; there is so much the early morning holds.
- Read your Bible and pray every morning
- Bath, and dress the way you want to be addressed
- Step out in faith and in the spirit to work with might, wisdom, and diligence
- Eat in due season for strength and not for pleasure
- Stay positive, forgive more and judge less.
Stay blessed
