I have always had a desire to be a great prayer warrior. I find the life of great prayer warriors a source of so much inspiration. Unfortunately however, what I thought about these great servants of God who laboured in prayer kept me away from starting my own praying until I learned these great lessons from the Life of Elijah.

Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit (James 5:17-18 KJV)

Three simple lessons that will transform your prayer life if you learn them are as below.
-
Prayer giants are not super men;
The first and most important lesson I learned from Elijah’s life is that prayer giants’ are not supermen. Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are. Glory be to God! I don’t need to be superman to get audience with God. Every Tom, Dick, and Harry can receive answers to prayer from God. The word ‘subject’ means that he also was under and sometimes ruled by passions as we are.
-
Prayer giants pray earnestly;
Nobody is born a prayer giant. They become giants because they pray. They pray means that they bring their request to God with thanksgiving and supplication. They pray means that they don’t demand from anyone; they rather submit their petition in faith and humility. It is not by wishing but it is by asking. They pray earnestly.
-
Prayer giants submit to divine sovereignty;
The Bible says that Elijah prayed that it might not rain. He brought his desire before God and left the outcome to God to determine. He requested what he wanted but left the outcome to God.
You! Yes, you can also rule with prayer. You can become a celebrated giant of prayer. You can start today. It is time to pray and make decrees in prayer. We must arise and pray without ceasing. The time is now!
