James 5:14-15 KJV — “Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: [15] and the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.“
The opening statement of the text reveal that even though it is the will of God for us that we shall walk in divine health, there are times when some brethren are taken ill. Is any sick among you? These are brethren. If any is sick among us, then it is time to visit and pray with them.
Apostle James teaches the secret to ministering healing to the sick. The scriptures exhort us to visit and pray for the sick. The Bible requires us to also anoint them with oil! The scriptures assure us that when we visit and pray for the sick: as well as anoint them with oil; the prayer of faith will save them from death, the Lord will raise them, and if they have committed any sin, they shall be forgiven! Say Amen to that now!
The scriptures teach us that: Jesus entered the home of Peter’s mother-in-law and healed her. In another case, the Lord sent His word and healed the soldier’s servant. We also learn that aprons from the body of Paul was sent to the sick and those vexed by devils, and they were healed. Even in some cases the sick came to touch the hem of the Lord’s garments in faith. We have seen how both Naaman and Hezekiah had to follow a direction to dip in the Jordan seven times and to put fig leaves on the boils respectively. We see how Timothy was counselled to change his lifestyle to manage his condition till healing comes.
In all these testimonies, I believe, God still makes home visits and heals the sick.
Prayer
If you have a bottle of oil at home, take it now and join in this prayer!
- Let us PRAISE the Lord, for He is good and His mercies endure forever. He is the Lord who heals our infirmities. He is mighty to save and deliver. Thank God for the healing miracles we have recieved in the days gone by, and praise His holy name. Declare with me “our God is a healer!” and begin to pray!
- Let us RETURN to the Lord with a broken heart and a contrite spirit. Pray that the Lord will forgive and restore us to the paths of righteousness as we forgive those who trespasses against us. Pray that the Lord will forgive us of any sins we have committed! May the Lord spare us of things we knew to do but didn’t do! Pray!
- ASK the Lord to heal our sick relatives and brethren! May the Lord send His healing power into homes and hospitals and wherever the brethren are! Father! Heal the sick! Restore the weak! Pray that the Lord will break the hold of infirmity! May the fire and thunders of God crash any shrine or altar upon which sacrifices are offered to keep our loved ones sick! By fire! By thunder! In the name of Jesus! May the Lord heal speedily to deliver our brethren and their loved ones from being tempted to turn to dumb idols!
- Lift up your voice and say “Father, we are totally submitted and YIELDED to Your dominion and will! Father, may Your will be done in my family and in the lives of these brethren. We acknowledge that if you don’t help and heal our brethren and loved ones, no one can! Father graciously help and heal in the name of Jesus!
Now, anoint the sick with oil! Pour a little oil in your right palm and touch the head or the ailing part of the sick. Receive the power and healing virtue now! In the name of Jesus! I call it done!
