[Philippians 3:13-14 KJV] “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus”.
As we step into the season of doing the first works, all of us must remember that we have not arrived yet. God is just beginning with us. We are just getting ready for what God is about to do in our lives. We are just at the brink of our breakthroughs. None should live as though he or she has arrived. Don’t stop at the signs, we are to push and work harder towards the goal. Apostle Paul teaches that he presses towards the mark of the high calling, and he clearly states that he does this by first of all doing two things:
1. He forgets the things that are behind; good, bad or ugly; He puts the past where it belongs and
2. He reaches forth unto things that are before him: There is something in your tomorrow, don’t waste your days brooding over past failings or successes.
I can say without doubt that we must strive to press on without fear or favour. We must forget about the things that are behind, and strive to reach forth to the things that are before us. There is so much in your tomorrow, don’t ruin it by focusing on things in your past that you can do nothing about. Let us arise and press on with passion, vim, wisdom and strength.
So what are these things in our future, that we’re supposed to press on towards?;
1. To serve as able ministers of reconciliation:
We are saved to serve as able ministers of reconciliation, seeking and reconciling men to God. He came to seek and to save the lost. We are His ambassadors and agents of reconciliation; we have a ministry of reconciliation.
2. To serve as the battle axes of the Lord, destroying the works of darkness:
We are battle axes and tools in the hands of God to destroy the works of darkness.
3. To serve as priests and kings:
We are bought and washed in His own blood from our sins to serve as priests and kings unto God. We are called to serve and rule.
Do not stop at anything; just press on and strive to attain. You must win and not fail. God is your helper. You cannot fail, we must win. No retreat, no surrender!
How can we do this? We must Awaken|Wait| See| Publish| Run patiently. The Bible teaches us that what the Prophet Habakkuk saw awakened him. When he saw the rot happening around him, he was moved to wait on God in the tower or high place, to see what he will answer when he is questioned. We are also believing God for a spiritual awakening that will move us to spend quality time in the high place and tower. The Lord instructed the prophet to publish whatever he sees and began to run and anyone of who also reads shall run with him. May the Lord awaken you to spend time in waiting to see, publish and run with vision.
So, you may ask, Pastor Simpe why should I press towards the mark of the high calling? And my answer is that you should press towards the mark for the simple reason that your work of faith, labour of love, and patience of hope shall never be in vain. We shall receive great rewards and our lives will count for something.
May the heavens and the earth take notice of your labour! May your name be written in the eternal book of life! May many generations celebrate your story and legacy of your life! You shall never die in obscurity! The Lord shall honour your efforts with fruits! You will be happy you served!
Be blessed, I love you!

Oh God may you awaken me, my mind, my spirit and my soul from slumber as I wait on you in this day.
I want to press on to the mark of the high calling.
Help me Lord.
Thank you Pastor for the awakening.
