We will be discussing how to provoke the hand and the presence of God. We shall be studying the man Solomon and how his lifestyle and choices moved God to take notice of him. We should know by now that men appoint but God anoints. Men may appoint you as king but it takes divine endorsement to become king.
Text
[1 Kings 3:3-5 KJV] “And Solomon loved the Lord , walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places. [4] And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar. [5] In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee”.
Discussion
It is important to state that everyone of us can provoke the divine hand of God when we learn the secrets of the fathers. Shortly after Solomon reigned in the stead of his father David, God appeared to him and blessed him with wisdom, wealth, honour and long life.
When Solomon was made king two things happened; David his father both instructed and blessed him. His father blessed and wished him well in his endeavour as king. Therefore, the Bible tells us that God established the kingdom under Solomon.
However, Solomon began to do certain things that would trap him later. He developed affinity for Pharaoh and ended up marrying his daughter. When you begin to develop affinity for unbelievers, you will end up marrying one, and that unbeliever will become a thorn in your flesh.
If you want to provoke the hand and presence of God as Solomon did, then you must do the following;
1. Love God:
Solomon loved God; his heart was after God and God honoured him. The Bible wants us to love the Lord our God with all of our heart, soul, mind and being. Loving God is key to provoking the hand, presence and attention of God.
2. Walk in the statutes of your father:
Solomon walked in the statutes of his father. We must honour our fathers by walking in their statutes. Your father may not be perfect but he is experienced. Your father may not be perfect but he may be anointed and God’s king. Solomon walked in the statutes of his father, David. Walking in the statutes and doctrine is important in provoking the hand of God. The early church continued because they kept the doctrine and teaching of the apostles.
It’s easy to love God because He is perfect; it’s much difficult to walk in your father’s statutes because he isn’t. Your father isn’t perfect. There are times when he is a contradiction of what he is instructing, yet you cannot provoke God until you walk in the statutes of your father because God put him in His stead.
3. Sacrifice a thousand offerings to the Lord:
The third and final key to moving God into your life for guidance and direction is giving and sacrificing. Solomon sacrificed a thousand offerings at Gibeon and God appeared to him in the night. Noah built an altar and offered sacrifices and God appeared to him. Cornelius gave alms and fasted and God sent an angel. Offering sacrifices moves and provokes God.
Many of us are believing that God will move on our behalf. Well, these are the three keys to moving and provoking God to move. You must love God, walk in your father’s statutes, and offer heavy sacrifices. Your giving and offering will open doors for you.
Stay blessed; I love you!
