[Luke 17:32 KJV] “Remember Lot’s wife.”
We are all making a journey to heaven. We are pilgrims and are running in the race of time. We are running the race that is set before us. There are many things on the road. There are many things that we must face and overcome. It is important that as we run the race of time and life; we also remember the story and the lessons we learn from Lot’s wife.
Lot’s wife always represents people who start well in the faith but treat lightly the bridge to the rock that saved them. Lot was nobody until Abram brought him along, but with time he prospered until he could no longer live close to Abraham. Aside from Lot choosing to stay side by side with Abraham; he chose to stay in the south closer to the watered places.
This is the trap many people fall into. Prosperity traps them. When they see the watered places they trade important relationships that kept them. Lot and his wife traded an important with Abraham and ended miserably.
God’s expectation of each of us is to finish the race and overcome to the end. God wants us to win over evil, He wants us to overcome; whether in rain or in shine. The rains may come, the storms may beat but God wants us to overcome! He wants us to soar above the storms and the shelling of fiery darts against our lives; therefore remember Lot’s wife!
[Hebrews 10:19-29 KJV] “Having, therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; and having an high priest over the house of God; let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.”
“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) and let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.“
“For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?”
Three simple secrets to overcome and live a victorious life are to:
1. Follow closely!
Don’t follow from a distance and don’t be shallow in your convictions. It is either you drink deep or taste not. You must follow more closely and gain roots if you want to finish well and finish strong.
2. Hold fast your profession of faith!
Don’t let anything happening around you or in you change your profession of faith. God of the mountain is also the God of the valley. Always remember that God is faithful. He will never leave nor forsake you. Hold fast to your faith.
3. Provoke, gather together, and exhort one another the more as you see the day approaching!:
Don’t stay out of church. Don’t take a break from church. It is demonic to think you can make it even if you don’t come to church. The church is the place where we encounter the presence of God in the New Testament. “Where two or three are gathered together, I am there in their midst”. We encounter the presence of God in church.
These are the simple steps to draw near in faith. This is how we can overcome. Holding one another; provoking one another, honouring our gathering with one another in church. May the Lord help us all in the name of Jesus Christ!
Stay blessed!
