[Joshua 1:1-9 KJV] “Now after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord it came to pass, that the Lord spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying”,
[2] “Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. [3] Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses. [4] From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast. [5] There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee”.
[6] “Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. [7] Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest”.
[8] “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. [9] Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest”.
One of the key causes of disobedience and failure in life is fear. Many people are unable to do what God is asking them to do because of fear. They are too afraid and too timid to step out and obey. I believe it is time for us to arise and pray that the Lord would give us the courage and strength to step out and obey His word to us.
The Bible tells us in 2 Timothy 1:7, that we have not received the spirit of fear, but of power, of love and of a sound mind. We are supposed to be a people who arise and courageously step out and fight as gallant men and women. We are called to do the will of the Father, but sometimes, the fear of the known and unknown keep us from doing what we know we must do. In the text above the Lord repeated to Joshua three times in three verses that all he needed to be able to obey God was courage and strength. He needed to be strong and courageous.
I pray that the Lord shall give us children, nephews, nieces, and friends who are courageous enough to obey God. Sometimes, nobody in the family is rising because many of us are timid and fearful. Sometimes, the main problem is fear. I prophesy over you that from today, you shall receive the courage to step out and do what God has put in your heart. May the Almighty God help you to stand firm and to stand tall. You will not be afraid to act on God’s word.
May the Lord give us the courage and strength for the first works! May we not be afraid to rise to the occasion! The Philistines told each other to “quit ye as men, and fight valiantly, lest you be slaves to these Jews”. I must add in clear terms that if you do not arise in courage to fight gallantly, you will serve the enemy. We must all arise with a new spirit of courage and strength to fight. Your fear and weaknesses must not keep you down. You will experience a new day and God will take you far.
Now, what is the Lord ministering to you to do? Arise and do it. Is He asking you to plant a church, go ahead and plant the church? Is He telling you to win souls, cone on and go ahead, win some souls to His glory. What is the Lord ministering to you to do? Arise today and do it with courage and strength.
I love you!
