[Psalm 40:1-3 KJV] “I waited patiently for the LORD, and he inclined unto me and heard my cry. He brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. He put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God. Many shall see it and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.”
Have you ever been in that place where you feel stuck in a horrible pit? Have you been so stuck that you are confused about how to get out? Then this Psalm was written to show you the way forward.
In this Psalm, David teaches that when you feel stuck and overwhelmed, learn to patiently wait on God. Trust that He will bring you out. There is no other godly way out of trouble and horrible pits except through waiting on God. The Bible admonishes that if anyone is afflicted, they should pray.
The Lord will incline His ear and bring you out of the horrible pit. He will set your feet upon a rock to stay. He will not leave you to rot in trouble. He will deliver, establish, and empower you to stand firm, then put a new song in your mouth.
There is a song in your mouth, a song of deliverance. This is the time to sing that song. Don’t keep your mouth shut! You will overcome and conquer by both testimony and confession. Speak about the good things He has done in the past, that is your testimony; as you sing of what He can do, it is a confession of faith.
This is the time. Raise your voice and sing. Sing that new song to the glory of God. Let the nations hear our song of rejoicing. We are the people of God, and we must sing that song.
Stay blessed.
