Matthew 8:23-27 KJVS — And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him. [24] And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. [25] And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.
[26] And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. [27] But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!
The disciples were in the boat with Jesus when the storm came. What Jesus did in that storm shows us how God expects us to live when life becomes difficult.
In the middle of the storm, Jesus was calm. He was not afraid, and He did not panic. He trusted the Father completely. When the disciples cried out, Jesus first dealt with fear before dealing with the storm. Then He spoke with authority, and the winds and the sea obeyed Him.
Jesus showed that peace comes before power. He did not allow the storm outside to create a storm inside Him. His confidence came from knowing who He was and whose authority He carried.
Remember!
Jesus has called us to be like Him. When storms arise, we must choose calm over panic and faith over fear. We are to speak life, peace, and God’s Word into difficult situations. As followers of Christ, we are called to carry His authority and reflect His character. When we live in faith and obedience, even the storms around us will respond to the peace and authority of Christ working through us.
