Isaiah 55:10-12 KJV — For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
[11] so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. [12] For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
Every word of God that comes out of the mouth of God has a purpose. It is either to give bread to the eater or seeds for the sower. What you get out of the word is determined by what you intend to do with it; it determines whether you are an eater or a sower.
In the parable of the sower, the Lord teaches four simple steps to make the word work for you:
- Make sure you understand and believe the word that is spoken. There are many people who are unable to believe because they don’t understand the word. You must strive to understand.
- Strive to grow deeper roots in Christ. Get down on your knees to pray; read your Bible and meditate; offer yourself as a living sacrifice and your member as instruments of righteousness.
- Break up fallow ground and gather the thorns of lust, anxiety, pride, and deceitfulness of riches. These things will find a way of choking the word in your heart.
- Nurture the word with patience, work it through prayer, confession, faith action, and further reading. Strive to obey every instruction in the word and see God at work.
Stay blessed.
