[Judges 16:20 KJV]“And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him”
We want to escape the fate and pitfall of our brother Samson. Sometimes, as we go through life, we get vexed and battle-wearied by the events of life and the people we deal with. There are instances when the people we deal with intentionally decide to vex and trouble us.
There are times when the people are just being used by the enemy and they are unaware of this. There are also times when it is just a stage of life, but whichever way it may be, we could get worn out and battle-wearied. Such are dangerous time when we become vulnerable; these are such times when the adversary will strike hard. We must, therefore, prepare ahead for such times.
We have declared this July as our month of the Spirit; we began in the spirit and we would not be perfected in the flesh. We are not so foolish! We are rising and we will press to be perfected in the spirit. We are going to spend the next few days stirring up another outpouring of the Spirit.
We do not want to suffer the fate of Samson who went out to “shake himself as at other times“, not knowing thatthe Spirit had departed from him. Many of us have been busy lately, and we have not had time to stir up the Spirit. We want to take advantage of this prophetic window to stir the Spirit. We are desiring another outpouring and infilling of the Spirit.
Now, do we need another outpouring, infilling and a stirring? Yes! In Scripture, the disciples were filled again after the Day of Pentecost in Acts 4, they prayed amiss but God graciously answered. They prayed that God should stretch his hand and heal the sick, but God rather poured His Spirit and filled them afresh. We need another outpouring! We must save the little that is left. You must be stirred up again.
This July, we are believing God for a fresh outpouring of His Spirit. We need a fresh anointing, fresh oil, fresh fire, and fresh unction! We want to spend the time and seek God for a fresh presence! We are going to pray and ask God to pour His Spirit upon us one more time.
We need a fresh touch by His power. Don’t make the mistake Samson made. Don’t wait till it’s too late. This is the time to wait on God, to seek His face, and to pray that He would pour His Spirit upon us again.
We cannot continue with the strength of the flesh. We must be awake to the Spirit. We need another Pentecost! This is the time to pray and wait and crave for another infilling!
Why am I saying this? Why do we need another outpouring?
1. Restoration:
The first reason for a fresh outpouring is Restoration. We need to arise and pray for another outpouring because there is so much evil in the Land. There is oppression in the land and if the church does not pray, if the Spirit is not poured; the land will soon be desolate! (See Isaiah 32:11-15)
The Bible teaches that until the Spirit be poured, our families, businesses, and communities will be desolate. The outpouring will bring restoration. When the Spirit is poured, then the wilderness will become a fruitful field and a forest. The freshness will bring the restoration.
2. Revelation and utterance:
The second reason why we need a fresh outpouring of the Spirit is revelation and utterance. In Joel 2 reading from verse 28, we understand that when the Spirit is poured out on us, we shall see visions, dream dreams, and speak with new tongues. The coming of freshness brings fresh revelation and utterance.
I pray that as we start praying and seeking the Spirit, the Lord will stir revelations and utterances in our lives. When the Spirit is poured, there shall be more revelation and positive utterance. The outpouring will lead to more praise and thanksgiving!
3. Empowerment and transformation:
The third motivation for a fresh anointing is empowerment and transformation. Acts 1:8 teaches that we shall receive power that will transform us into witnesses when the Holy Ghost comes upon us.
In Scripture, wherever the Spirit fell, the people became bold because they were empowered. In Acts 4, when the Holy Ghost was poured again, the people received power! The fresh anointing will empower and transform each of us completely.
4. Guidance and truth:
The fourth motivation for a fresh outpouring is guidance and truth. The Bible teaches that when the Spirit come, He will teach, guide, reveal and lead. He will lead us into all truth.
The truth is spiritual and spiritual things are spiritually discerned. Without a fresh outpouring, many of us will grow carnal and deaf to the voice of the Spirit.
Many of us are drifting from the truth. Many of us are drifting from spiritual and eternal things. We need a fresh outpouring to awake to the Spirit and to be more inclined to spiritual things.
5. Reinforcement:
The fifth motivation for fresh unction is reinforcement. The Bible teaches in John 15:26-27 that the Spirit will reinforce the work of evangelism. The spirit will testify and we shall affirm. We will work hand in hand.
We also learn that we will have the company of a comforter. He shall be in us and with us (See also John 14:17). You will not be lonely.
The outpouring will stir the presence of the Spirit and create stronger reinforcement. His presence brings boldness, courage, and greater grace that reinforces the church.
6. Mighty Manifestations
The sixth motivation for stirring fresh anointing is mighty manifestations. Acts 10:38 reveals that Jesus was able to do mighty things because He was anointed with the Holy Ghost and power. A fresh anointing will stir fresh manifestations of power.
I pray for you that you shall join this call to stir up a fresh anointing. May you receive the outpouring in this season and become more effective in your pursuits, Amen!
Stay blessed
