[Mark 4:24-25 KJV] “And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given. For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.”
In the middle of Mark 4, the Lord teaches one of the most important principles in the Scriptures: take heed what and how you hear. The Lord reveals that one of the crucial things in this kingdom is what you hear. The Lord teaches that shat you hear; has a way of determining what you will further hear. If you hear the wrong thing, you will continue to hear more wrong things; if you hear the right thing, you will continue to hear more right things.
Psalm 1 teaches that your ability to shun the seat of the scorners, the way of sinners, and the counsel of the ungodly is the biggest blessing you can enjoy. It is not so easy to say no to the company of the scornful, sinners, and ungodly, hence anyone who can say no to bad company just to focus on the word of God day and night is blessed!
The Bible teaches that vain babbling brings increase but it only increases unto more ungodliness.
The words of vain babbling eats like a canker. If you sit around vain babbling, it will overthrow your faith. The faith of many have been overthrown this way.
[2 Timothy 2:15-18 KJV] “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenæus and Philetus; who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.”
The best thing you can do to help yourself is to study the Word. The best thing is to study to rightly divide the Word of Truth!
It is important to remember that;
- What and how you hear are very important. Whatever you hear shall bring increase; either a heightened fear or increased faith. If speaking positively can inspire faith, speaking negatively will crush faith.
- The most important input is your Word. It is your seed, what you hear is your seed that will determine what increase you will have.
- The most important place in your life, which you must learn to guard with all diligence, is your heart. The word will always be sown in your heart if you don’t abort it quickly enough. Guard your heart with all diligence, because it is where all the issues of your life come from.
- Every word, as seed you cast into your heart, yields some fruits you may never even be aware of. The word will grow once you cast it into your ground.
- What begins as a harmless word could grow into a tree that will influence many more people and things in your life than you can imagine. A little seed became a mustard tree that influence even the birds in the air. One angry sister or brother can destroy much good!
Take heed! Don’t despise small beginnings; it’s dangerous.
I have decided to begin to sow and nurture burden in our hearts; rather than knowledge which puffs up. What this generation lacks is burden. Many of us lack the burden for lost souls.
Stay blessed
