[Mark 5:16-20 KJV] “And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.
(17) And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.
(18) And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.
(19) Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.
(20) And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel”.
God has a plan and purpose to save the world from sinking and dying under the oppression of darkness. God so love the world that He sent his only begotten son Jesus Christ to come down here to seek and save that which is lost. (See Luke 19:9-10)
God is committed to carry out this purpose and plan, and He will succeed at it. He is therefore committed to save, translate and empower you to reach those in your house, community and the world around you. The text we just read is the story of how Jesus Christ saved, liberated and empowered a man to go and reach out to those at home but the man went beyond and over board to ten cities.
This same Jesus Christ is here today to save, translate, and empower you to reach those at your home, community, and the world at large. As you come to church, Jesus Christ wants you to leave with a touch; but above all He wants you to go and reach out to those at home and abroad. Missions and outreach is the heartbeat of God. Soul winning is what makes Heaven light up. They in heaven rejoice over those that are being saved. The party never ends when the church never stop going. I hear the abundance of singing and rejoicing.
Most often than not nobody can tell your story better than you can. You must tell your own story too. When the people who kept the herd of pigs saw the man’s deliverance and run to tell the story, the village got angry and asked Jesus to leave their coast, but when the man told his story himself, the city received it. Every one of us must tell his or her own story. There are two things that can change the world;
- First of all, to pray (See 1 Timothy 2:1-8)
- Then secondly to preach (See 1 Corinthians 1:21-22)
God wants us to preach; because preaching is the medium and the gospel is the power that saves the world, especially those who believe. Indeed not all can preach the word by knowledge and doctrine but each of us can preach;
- Our faith
- Our testimony
- By speaking out boldly
- By singing hymns, spiritual songs, and psalms with grace in our hearts (Colossians 3:16)
- By our chaste lifestyle (a wife’s most effective tool)
- By our works of compassion
You have no excuse; we must step out and preach the word. We cannot just stay here. We must step out into the world.
Remember when the church goes into the world, we heal it; when the world comes into the church, they destroy it.
It is time to step out and pray and preach our faith and testimony by singing with grace in our hearts, by our chaste lifestyle, and by our works of compassion.
We have no excuse; let us draw near in expectation, worship, prayer, and yieldedness.
