[Mark 6:30-31 KJV] “And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught. [31] And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat”.
We are called and gifted for the perfecting the saints; the work of minstry; and the edifying of the body of Christ. Ministry is work; and in the theology of Christ in missions, eating is a liesure. In a mission field eating is a liesure. The mission and ministry is work.
If we want to succeed in ministry, we must be ready to work and exert ourselves in the work of soul winning. The work of ministry and soul winning is mainly organising events and meetings that creates an atmosphere in which the gospel can be preached.
The following are seven keys to success in the mission fields;
1. Purpose:
Purpose and decide on city, date, venue, and emphasis of the meeting. This is a spiritual decision that must be arrived at.
2. Pray:
This is the secret to all possibilities; we must pray that the Lord will deliver us from wicked and unreasonable men; we must pray that the Lord will send more labourers to the field; pray that the Lord will give us utterance whenever we step out.
3. Plan:
Plan the event, program, resources, and publicity. Failing to plan is planning to fail.
4. Pool:
You must prepare your victuals. Prepare the human resource, platform & seating, power & lightening, PA systems.
5. Permit:
Obtain the necessary permission from all relevant authorities.
6. Publicise:
In Luke 10:1-4, Jesus sent His disciples out two by two into cities where He shall himself go. They went out as an advance team and preached in the cities, town, and villages.
7. Produce:
Make the brand visible, invite many people, meet with your team members, set up the service, arrive on time, follow up those invited (be ready to go to the streets and lanes, highways and hedges). Welcome all, keep the service simple, relevant and upbeat.
Start with prayer, continue with praise and worship, allow time for testimonies and ministrations, preach and exhort, minister to the sick and oppressed, take offerings, give announcements and close.
Stay blessed!
