[John 16:7-15 KJV] “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.”
“And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they believe not on me; of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.”
“I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”
“He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.”
The primary or main ministry of the Holy Spirit is a comforting or helping ministry. The Holy Spirit is God with and in us to help or comfort. The Holy Spirit is sent to help and comfort the church. He was sent to serve and help us, He is our comfort; another Comforter of the same kind. The Holy Spirit diligently discharges this charge by helping those who look to Him for help.
He does this through Reproving, rebirthing of the spirit man, sealing you, empowering through baptism, Indwelling, infilling, stirring, teaching, crying, leading, and defending.
1. Convicting:
The first way the Holy Spirit helps any man is by reproving and convicting. The Holy Spirit convicts of sin, righteousness, and judgement. He is the person that helps us to believe the truth. He is very important in soulwinning and evangelism.
2. Regeneration:
When you are born of the Holy Spirit: the Holy Spirit gets your spirit man born again, which helps the human spirit to connect and fellowship with God.
3. Sealing:
You are then sealed with the Holy Spirit of Promise (See Ephesians 1:13, Ephesians 4:30)
4. Empowerment:
He empowers you through the Baptism of the Holy Spirit (See Acts 1:8; Acts 19:1-7)
5. Presence:
Indwelling presence of God. The Bible says if a man has not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His. We must have the spirit and the presence of God dwelling among us.
6. Stirring:
Stirring of the Holy Spirit. We need the Stirring of the Holy Spirit, it is one of the ways by which he communicates or speaks to us.
7. Teaching:
Teaching of the Holy Spirit.
8. Leading:
Leading and the Guiding of the Holy Spirit (See Romans 8:14, 2 Corinthians 5:5) the Holy Spirit leads and guides.
9. Intercession:
The crying or groaning of the Holy Spirit (See Romans 8:26). The Holy Spirit is the amplifying agent; He helps us in prayer. He prays and intercedes for us with groaning that cannot be uttered with words.
10. Protection
The defending ministry of the Holy Spirit. The Bible says when the enemy shall come as a flood the Holy Spirit will lift a standard against him. The Holy Spirit protects the church and the Saint.
11. Fellowship:
The fellowship of the Holy Spirit. We also understood this as you having fellowship with the Holy Spirit but Koinonia is two-way; Apostle Paul’s prayer or blessing was that the Holy Spirit should commune with you (See 2 Corinthians 13: 14)
Stay blessed
