Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 KJV — Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. [10] For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.
[11] Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone? [12] And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
It’s important to remember that two are better than one because they reap greater rewards for their labor. If one person falls, the other can lift them up. It’s dangerous to be in a superficial relationship or with a fair-weather partner who won’t support you when times get tough. We all need companions and partners who can stand with us on our bad days.
No one can go through life alone. You need partners and companions who are:
1. Emotionally fit
They should be emotionally capable of supporting you through dark and challenging times. Relating to emotionally immature companions can be dangerous—they might manipulate you and drain your energy.
2. Compassionately supportive
Life can sometimes feel overwhelming. Pray that the Lord surrounds you with people who offer continual, compassionate support, especially when you feel like you might crumble under life’s pressures.
3. Believe in you conditionally
You need people who believe in you, even when your current situation looks bleak. It’s overwhelming to feel abandoned by those you expected to stand by you. Find those who believe in you unconditionally, regardless of the circumstances.
4. Resiliently Resourceful
Look for partners who bring value and are consistently willing to contribute. These are the people who never tire of showing up and offering their resources and support.
May God bless you with partners and companions who can sustain and support you during times of adversity.
Stay blessed
