Watch and Pray Without Ceasing

“Pray without ceasing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:17 KJV)

Most of us don’t pray when everything is working well for us. We pray on when we have trouble. But today the Lord is commanding us to watch and pray always.

We must watch and pray without ceasing because;

1. It is the only guarantee to escape temptations:

There is a tempter is seeking to trap you. Some of these temptations come from our own desires and lust; but they are baits.

2. Though we walk in the flesh we do not war after the flesh: 

There are so many things fighting every man. The first strategy of the enemy is to make you believe that they don’t exist and nothing is fighting you (See 2 Corinthians 10:3-4)

3. We are not wrestling against flesh and blood:

We are wrestling against principalities and powers and rulers of darkness and spiritual wickedness in high places (See Ephesians 6:12)

4. There is an adversary, a spiritual being roaming, roaring like a lion seeking whom he may devour: 

We must be up and doing to resist him concerning your children, business and family. It’s time to tell the devil that there is no way. We should not sit around and allow the devil. We must resist him and prevent from entering.

1 Peter 5:8–9 KJV
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 

Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

5. There is always an evil spirit who knows your name and seeking access to your life to plunder your gain: 

The devil will never leave you alone for long. Even when you find relief, it is temporary. We must be aggressive and continue steadfastly in watching and prayer. This is because our adversary, the devil is roaring like a lion seeking whom he might devour. The Word of God tells us to resist him fiercely. The following scripture describes the activities of these are familiar spirits;

“When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out.” (Luke 11:24-26 KJV)

And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished.   

Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.

Every evil spirit seeking access to your life to afflict and plunder you or your network or work is resisted fiercely now in the name of Jesus Christ!

Finally, the three simple steps to watch and pray without ceasing is;

1. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might
2. Put on the whole armour of God
3. Take a stand to withstand (See Ephesians 6:10-18)
