[1 Corinthians 15:19] “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable”.
We have been speaking about reigning for the past two days and I believe we have been inspired and have learnt a lot.
I must, however, establish that there are two lives: this life and the life to come. Apostle Paul teaches that if in this life only that we have hope, then of all men we are the most miserable.
That is to say, we must not reign in this life only but in the one to come. We must labour to rule both here and now; then there and then. We will be raptured and we will walk on the streets of gold; but the Bible tells us that those who escape the first death and partake of the first resurrection are blessed because they shall rule with Christ! They are blessed and holy! They shall reign with Christ for a thousand years! This is called the Millennial Rule.
[Revelation 20:6 KJV]“Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.”
Our focus as a church is to have a part in the first resurrection; we must focus on both reigning now and then. How can we ensure that we can have a part in the first resurrection? The Bible is clear: Be steadfast, Unmovable, and Always abounding in the work of the Lord.
[1 Corinthians 15:19, 51-58 KJV] “Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”
“For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.”
“O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”
If you really want to abound in the work of the Lord then you must be:
- Filled with the fullness of the Lord
- Flow with the Spirit
- Fight the good fight of faith
- Focus on finishing your course and the ministry which you have recieved of the Lord.
Stay blessed
