Ecclesiastes 12:1, 7, 13-14 KJV — Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
We want to answer the question what happens when a man dies? The Bible tells us that man is a tripartite being: you are a living soul, you live in a body and have a spirit; hence the question what happens when a man dies? Three things happen when a man dies:
- The Spirit returns to God who gave it.
- The body is dust and ashes; it returns to dust and ashes and
- The soul is taken into custody by the agents of the person you entrusted it for safe keeping.
In the story of the rich man and Lazarus, when they both died, angels carried Lazarus to Abraham’s blossom, because he trusted God. The Rich man was buried but his soul went to hell.
Who have you entrusted the keeping of your soul to? At the end of this study, I hope you make a decision to remember your creator in the days of your youth. This is for the simple reason that as it is appointed unto man once to die and after death the judgement; so Christ will appear a second time to those who look for his coming (See Hebrews 9:27)
The preacher teaches that the whole duty and the goal of living is to fear God and keep his commandments. It is a fact that God will bring every work into judgement with every secret thing. Remember, your decision today will determine the direction and destination of your life. Indeed whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
