Three key things give demons and darkness access to our lives: covenants, disobedience, and our words. Your words are forerunners into your future. What you say and is one of the main things that will release or restrain what God wants to do in your life.
That is why the angel of God struck Zacharias with dumbness; when he spoke in unbelief. We have read that many years ago, an angel appeared to a priest by name, Zacharias. The angel came to announce the birth of John the Baptist, but his father doubted the word and questioned God’s ability to do what he was saying. That action of the man Zacharias and subsequent actions could have restrained God from realizing John; hence the need to shut his tongue.
[Luke 1:18-20 KJV] “And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years. And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings. And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.“
Very often, we allow our tongue to open doors for demons to come and hijack what God would have done. Your tongue is a powerful force and each of us must work hard to use it to our advantage.
The angel, knowing the power of what a man says, took the ability of Zacharias to speak from him, until God was through. Our words are powerful and we must be careful what we say. We must pay attention to the tongue and not allow our unbelief and haste to speak and restrain the hand of God.
The Bible teaches us in Proverbs 18:21 that “death and life are in the power of the tongue and he that love it will eat the fruit thereof.” Indeed, in 1 Peter 5:10, we understand that “he that loves life and will see good days must refrain his tongue from guile and his lips from evil.”
In numbers 14:22-25, we learn that the Lord did unto Israel as they spoke in His ears.
I pray that you shall bridle your tongue and allow God to bless your life. There is power in what you say, hence the need to say the right things.
Stay blessed, I Love you.
