Why Many Dry Up!

Why Many Dry Up!

Many well meaning servants of God dry up because they do not rest. Many believers backslide because that get stressed and fatigued. The Lord taught his disciples a very important principle of the walk of faith in Mark 6:31, on the need to take a respite when you feel overwhelmed.

Text

[Mark 6:30-32 KJV] “And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught. [31] And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat. [32] And they departed into a desert place by ship privately”.

Discussion

The Bible tells us that after Herod beheaded John the Baptist, his disciples took his body and buried it in a tomb and gathered unto Jesus and told Him all that they had done and taught. This clearly shows that every disciple, pastor, deacon or trainee must both do and teach things. We must all be doing and teaching certain things, as well as reporting back to the Master.

Sometimes, there is the need to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life to a countryside or village to refresh. Our camp meetings have, therefore, become moments of getting away from city life to recuperate in the countryside. Sometimes there is so much people are demanding of us that we have no time to ourselves. I pray that as we go aside privately and all by ourselves to the countryside, the Lord shall give us rest.

If we really don’t want to dry up, them we must take these camps seriously. It is not just a time of spiritual renewal, but also of rest and rejuvenation. It is a time with God and to experience other places of the country. It offers us the opportunity to prospect and know places we can visit and share the word.

The key activities will include;

  1. Dawn prayer walks
  2. Grooming and bathing
  3. Quiet times, seclusion, solitary
  4. Bible study
  5. Teaching
  6. Breaking bread
  7. Praying

The following is a packing list for a 3 day and 2 nights camping.

  1. 2 T-shirts or polo shirts
  2. 2 Jeans or khaki trousers
  3. A pair of camp boots
  4. A pair of slippers or sandals
  5. 2 sleeping cloths
  6. Sponge, towel, tooth paste and tooth brush, comb, and deodorant
  7. Underwear and socks
  8. Spoon, fork, plate, bowl, cup/mug
  9. Pen and notebook
  10. 1.5 litre water bottle
  11. Umbrella

It is important that camps are organized for learning and recuperation. Maintain decency and dignity, respect and connect with others, don’t bring expensive jewellery or electronics.

I pray that the Lord shall strengthen and teach us in these camps. I pray that God will take us safely and bring us back. I pray that all of us will respect the camping rules and come back more refreshed.

Be blessed; I love you!
