[1 Thessalonians 5:17 KJV] “Pray without ceasing“.
Many of us do not pray because we find no reason to pray. Indeed, is there a good reason to pray without ceasing? Why should men pray without ceasing?
1. Prayer is a divine privilege:
Prayer is a divine privilege by which you can solicit the helping hand of almighty faithful God in everyday life. Matthew 6:9-13 teaches clearly that we need God in our everyday life. Prayer is necessary for everyday life. We need to pray about every little detail of our lives. Prayer is not for special occasions, but for everyday life. Prayer is for church growth, safety in the city and in the field, daily bread, forgiveness, and protection from evil.
2. Prayer saves your family, friends, and even your generation:
In Ezekiel we learnt that the Lord sought for a man who will stand in the gap between Him and the land, that He will not destroy it, but found none.
[Ezekiel 22:30-31 KJV] “And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none. [31] Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord God”.
God sought for a man and found none, that is why there is a call now to pray for all men and for people in authority. When God found no man, He poured His indignation upon the land, now we can stand in the gap and stay the judgment of God.
[1 Timothy 2:1-5 KJV] “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; [2] For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. [3] For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; [4] Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. [5] For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;”
Your honest and fervent prayer will save the world around you. This is one of the key reasons to pray without ceasing. Our ceaseless prayers will save the world. Your prayer will save your family and friends; let us arise to pray.
3. Prayer is a vent for the fume and fury:
Anger that builds up in the innermost part of a man through the hurts and pains of life can be dealt with in prayer. Philippians 4:6 teaches us to “be anxious for nothing, but in all things by prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving, to let our request be made known unto God”. There are times when you get angry, when the fume and fury builds up to destabilize your spirit.
4. Prayer is the means by which you seek redress when powerful people violate your rights:
In Luke 18, the widow beseeched the judge when her rights were violated. In Acts 4:23-31, the early church petitioned God, when their right to worship was violated. Prayer is a PRIVILEGE to come boldly before God to petition Him. God will avenge you speedily.
5. Prayer is a means by which you access higher knowledge:
When you pray, you access higher knowledge, even the unsearchable things of God. Jeremiah 33:3 teaches that God shows unsearchable things to those who pray. Prayer is a means to access unsearchable knowledge.
In the nights, as we gather and pray, may the almighty God show Himself strong to us. We have to pray more. The church is a house of prayer, and we must pray without ceasing. You cannot fail when you access the privilege of prayer.
Stay blessed
