Why You Must Strive for a Personal Relationship with Christ

[2 Timothy 1:12 KJV] For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day”.

There are many of us in the church who are still at sea in understanding why we must absolutely trust Jesus Christ with our lives. Apostle Paul said in 2 Timothy 1:12 that he knows whom he had believed. And he knew that He was able to keep that which is committed to His trust. So, who is this Jesus, whom the apostle Paul had believed? Do you really know who you have believed?

Jesus Christ is our Saviour, our Lord, our baptiser, and intercessor.

1. He is seeking to save all that is lost:

The Lord came to seek and to save the lost. When we strive to know Him, He will do the rest of the work. Zacchaeus only wanted to see Him, he climbed a sycamore tree, but Jesus came to his house to dine with him. He will go all out to save us whenever we make the attempt to see Him.

Luke 19:1-10 KJV] “And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. [2] And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich. [3] And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature. [4] And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way. [5] And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house. [6] And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully. [7] And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner. [8] And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. [9] And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham. [10] For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost”.

I exhort you to trust Jesus Christ because he will go the extra mile to save and redeem you.

2. He is the Lord, and must be obeyed:

We have accepted Jesus Christ as our personal Saviour and also as our Lord. His disciples called Him Master. He is the Adonai God. He is Lord Over All and Lord Of All. We have only one master and that is Christ.

[Matthew 23:10 KJV] “Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ”.

3. He is the Baptizer:

He baptises with the Holy Ghost and with fire. Remember also that the Holy Ghost is the source of power. You receive power after the Holy Ghost is come upon you and you become witnesses unto Christ. Jesus is the baptiser. He will baptize us with Holy Ghost and fire.

[Luke 3:16 KJV] “John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:”

We must receive and roll with Christ because He is the baptiser. He is the source or connection to power. He connects us to the source of power for daily life.

4. He is our intercessor:

The Lord Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father, making intercession. When you trust Jesus, He makes intercessions for you.

[Romans 8:34 KJV] “Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us”.

We have come to Zion, the City of God and to the Church of the First Born, the only begotten of the Father. When you come to the faith, and to church, you must understand that you have come to the Savour, Lord, Baptiser, and Intercessor. Sometimes, you feel all alone but you are never alone. Jesus Christ is with us to comfort and to defend us.

Stay blessed, I love you;
