We have been studying about restoring the glory to the temple. The Lord gave His Son Jesus Christ that by Him, He shall restore glory to the human race. We all sinned and came short of the glory of God. (See Romans 3:23). The Bible teaches that God has called us to glory and virtue.
The Apostle Peter is teaching that we can walk in this glory and virtue (power) if we do the following;
- Escape the corruption that is in the world through lust.
- Receive the things that are supplied by God’s divine power
- Receive the engrafted word with meekness.
- Intentionally pursue the pillars of virtue.
[2 Peter 1:1-11 KJV] “Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”
“And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.”
“For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.”
1. You must decide to escape the corruption that is in the world through lust.
There is corruption in the world, but that corruption is effectual only through lust. That corruption will never affect you until you lust after the things in the world.
2. You must strive to receive the things that are supplied by His divine power.
The Bible teaches that there are things that are being supplied by the divine power of God. We must strive to receive those things. There is something God wants to give each of us; open up and receive.
3. You must receive the promises God has given and become partakers of His divine nature.
We must receive the word that is being preached every time. These promises are the things that make us partakers of His divine nature. Until you partake of His divine nature, you cannot walk in the glory and virtue.
4. You must be intentional about pursuing virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness, and charity.
You must be intentional about this pursuit. It will not just happen. It is something we should be intentional about. You must decide that you want to be virtuous, knowledgeable, temperate, patient, godly, kind, and loving. These must be goals that you pursue if you want to walk in glory and virtue.
I do not doubt that you will walk in glory and virtue.
Stay blessed
