Revelation 3:20 KJV – Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Many years ago, in a city near Jericho, there was a man called Zacchaeus, he was short in nature and a tax collector. He had heard a lot about Jesus but didn’t know him. Then one day he heard that Jesus was passing by his way, but because he was short in nature, he climbed a tree that he might catch a glimpse of who Jesus Christ was.
The Bible tells us that when Jesus got there, he lifted his eyes and called him to come down. Jesus offered to spend the night in the house of Zacchaeus. That was when the seed of salvation entered into the house of Zacchaeus, the tax collector.
Luke 19:1-10 KJV – And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. [2] And, behold, there was a man named Zacchæus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich.
[3] And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature. [4] And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.
[5] And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchæus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house. [6] And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.
[7] And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner. [8] And Zacchæus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.
[9] And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham. [10] For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
The lessons from the story are:
- When you give Jesus attention, when you set your heart to seek Him, He will reveal Himself to you.
- Don’t let anything in your life stop you from seeking Jesus. Even if you have to climb a tree, do so. Give up excuses and seek Jesus! Seek Him with all your heart, and you will find Him.
- When you catch the attention of Jesus, the murmuring and complaining of people mean nothing. People may criticise you, but Jesus came to seek and to save that which is lost. We are the reason why Jesus walked the earth. He came to save the lost. Don’t give attention to the criticism and murmuring of people; focus your attention on Jesus Christ!
- You step into the fullness of Salvation the very moment you repent and act in faith. Repentance is very important! Repentance is key to salvation! The very day you repent and put your faith in Christ instead of your dead works, salvation enters your home and life.
