[Exodus 3:1-4 KJV] “Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb. [2] And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. [3] And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. [4] And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I”
Most often than not the call of God is mystical but with guidance, you can hear and understand it. When the Lord was calling Samuel, he needed Eli to understand the call and what was happening. It was the high priest who told Samuel how to answer the call of God on his life.
I believe that God is calling each of us into diverse areas of service and ministry: in arts and entertainment, education, governance, religion, science and technology, business and commerce, etc. I believe that it is important for you to discover this calling and answer it.
It is never too late to recognise and answer a call of God. The Bible tells us that God appeared to Moses in a burning bush that was not being consumed at age 80 after he had seemingly messed up. He started as a learned prince in Egypt and then became a fugitive and a shepherd in Midian. This was after he had been working as a shepherd for 40 years. How did he recognise and answer that call that will turn his life forever? What lessons can we learn? To recognise and answer the call of God upon your life, you must harness the following powers;
1. The power of exploring further:
When Moses saw the burning bush, he turned aside to see the sight. He may have missed the call and direction of God had he not done this. There are many things that we take for granted and miss the big revelation God wanted to show us.
2. The power of thinking right:
The second power that can help you to answer the call of God is the power of right thinking. When Moses heard the call, he run from it because he thought he did not have what it takes to pursue it. I believe that when we sort our thoughts and think as God would have us, we will be able to do what He wants. It is difficult to obey God if you don’t understand who you are. Moses saw himself as a mere stutterer whereas God had made him a god to Pharaoh.
[Exodus 7:1 KJV] “And the Lord said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet”.
You need the power of positive thinking and a positive self-image.
3. The power of counting on the presence of God:
The third secret to answering the call of God on your life is to understand that it will take God to get you to fulfill it. Nobody can make it on their own. You need God to get there. You need to depend on God. I have seen a lot of people frustrated because they thought they could make it on their own. It will take the presence of God to get you there. Moses could make it because he counted on the presence of God.
[Exodus 33:15 KJV] “And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence”.
I pray that the presence of the Lord will go with you and be with you, Amen!
4. The power of counting on the tokens of power:
You will make it if you count on the signs and mighty works following you. God will give every apostle mighty works and signs. You have a call to go and serve people and God will give you a token to show that He called you.
[Exodus 4:2-4 KJV] “And the Lord said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod. [3] And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it. [4] And the Lord said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand:”
5. The power of networking with others:
You can’t do it alone, so God will send people and helpers. Some will come to stay with you permanently and others will stay for a season. Don’t hold on too tightly to people who come around. You will be hurt and used but it is part of the game.
I believe with all of my heart that you will be able to answer the call of God in your life.
Be blessed, I love you!
