“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?” (1 John 5:4-5 KJV)
Whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world; whosoever believes that Jesus is the son of God overcomes the world. We are not born again to be victims; we are born again to overcome the world. We are born victors and not born victims. We are born again to sail and soar above all that is in the world.
This is our week of breaking the power of witchcraft over our lives. We will not allow anybody to bewitch us from obeying the truth. There are so many forces and so many people out there who are trying to use the power of witchcraft to control and destroy you. According to the Scriptures and church history, they are in the church, they come for our crusades, and we live and even fall in love with some of them.
These are people who try to use spell, teaching and seduction, casting of stumbling blocks, and manipulation to cause you to rebel or perpetuate wickedness against the truth, righteousness, authority, God, or goodwill.
So the question is “is it really possible for someone to bewitch you?” And the answer is ‘Yes!’ When you are foolish and laden with lust; lead about with various lust.
“O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?” (Galatians 3:1 KJV)
“For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,” (2 Timothy 3:6 KJV)
Bewitching therefore is the use of spell, teaching and seduction, casting of stumbling blocks, and manipulation to cause people to rebel or perpetuate wickedness against the truth, righteousness, authority, God, or goodwill.
Bar-Jesus
In Acts 13:6-12, we learn how Bar-Jesus used sorcery to turn Sergius Paulus from the truth. He almost got away with it, until Paul discerned in the spirit by the Holy Ghost.
Acts 13:6-12
(6) And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus:
(7) Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.
(8) But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.
(9) Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him,
(10) And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?
(11) And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.
(12) Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.
Jezebel
In Revelation 2:20, our Lord Jesus Christ spoke of Jezebel, that woman that calls herself a prophetess who used teachings and seduction as a tool to bewitch an entire church.
Revelation 2:20
Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
She trapped the men in the pulpit and taught them to rebel, to eat food sacrificed to idol, commit fornication, and serve her idol. The men were drunk with her fornication and lost reasoning.
Balaam
In that same way Revelation 2:14 reveal that Balaam taught Balak to cast a stumbling block before Israel. He cast a stumbling block to cause Israel to sin.
Jannes and Jambres
2 Timothy 3:18 teaches that Jannes and Jambres used manipulation to withstand Moses and the truth, to keep Pharoah from believing. The Bible clearly teaches that in today’s church, we have plenty of the sort of Jannes and Jambre who have crept into homes and are deceiving silly women laden with lust and led about with divers lust.
Bewitching, seduction, manipulation and sorcery is an ancient art of control; but it is more prevalent now than in those days.
5 simple steps to break the power of witchcraft over your life and over your church are:
1. Teach with long suffering and acknowledge the truth.
2 Timothy 2:25-26
(25) In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
(26) And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
2 Timothy 3:8
Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
2. Don’t believe in vanity and flattery.
Job 15:31
Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompence.
Daniel 11:32
And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.
3. Maintain your integrity and the shout of your king among you.
Numbers 23:18-25
(18) And he took up his parable, and said, Rise up, Balak, and hear; hearken unto me, thou son of Zippor:
(19) God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
(20) Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.
(21) He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the LORD his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them.
(22) God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn.
(23) Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought!
(24) Behold, the people shall rise up as a great lion, and lift up himself as a young lion: he shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drink the blood of the slain.
(25) And Balak said unto Balaam, Neither curse them at all, nor bless them at all.
4. Crush every rebellion and stubbornness with full force:
1 Samuel 15:22-23
(22) And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
(23) For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
1 Timothy 5:19-21
(19) Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.
(20) Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.
(21) I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.
5. Don’t underestimate the power of someone who has an evil eye:
Esther 3:7-10
(7) In the first month, that is, the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of king Ahasuerus, they cast Pur, that is, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, to the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar.
(8) And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king’s laws: therefore it is not for the king’s profit to suffer them.
(9) If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the business, to bring it into the king’s treasuries.
(10) And the king took his ring from his hand, and gave it unto Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jews’ enemy.
(Heman and Pur cast lots daily to determine the opportune time to strike). He was so bitter that he will do anything to get even with Mordecai and the Jews.
Stay blessed!
