“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. Today, I am doing a follow up on a teaching we did previously. Indeed we understood that whether you believe or doubt, live or die, listen or ignore these words, this world is passing away, and will soon crash!
We understood that the day of the Lord is like a thief in the night. We must live ready because there will be no time to get ready. He is coming and coming quickly.
Listen! If you really want to be ready, then, you must live ready. We must be;
Living in a holy and godly manner: There may be so many things that will try to side-track you, but it is time to live in a godly and holy manner. You must live for Jesus Christ and be sold out totally to His will and ways.
Living expecting the day of the Lord: Live every moment of your life expecting the Lord to come soon. When you forget this reality, you will lose guard. Living with this mindset helps you to live right.
Living believing the promise of God: Looking for a new heaven and Earth wherein dwells righteousness. There is a city in which dwells righteousness. This is the city of God.
Living diligently: That we may be found in peace, without spot, and blameless. It takes diligence to live ready. You must be diligent to live right.
Living seeking to understand even the epistles: There are some epistles that are hard to understand. Not all Bible scriptures are easily understood by many but you must strive to understand them.
Living carefully: So that we shall not be led away with the error of the wicked and fall from our own steadfastness
Living striving to grow: Strive to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ.
