There are many types of fathers in our lives: surrogate fathers, step fathers, biological fathers, foster fathers, God-fathers, spiritual fathers. However, God seeks only one thing when it comes to fatherhood – an emotional connection between fathers and children.
Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord : And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse (Malachi 4:5-6 KJV)
In many places the earth is curse because there is no emotional connection between fathers and children. This is a spiritual reality that has eluded many generations; until fathers and children get connected emotionally the nations of the earth will continue to suffer.
I believe there is increased crime and poverty among communities that have no strong father children ties. I pray that today we will arise to be fathers who are connected to our children. Any spirit of prodigality that severs ties between fathers and children is rebuked in Jesus’s name.
Indeed, the connection between many fathers and children are broken because many fathers are not good men, and many children don’t honour their fathers.
Who is a Father? What is the difference between a father and a good man?
A father is a seed donor or the pioneer of something or a major contributor to a body of knowledge. “write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you. For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel” (1 Corinthians 4:14-15)
A good man is a man who provides for his house and leaves an inheritance for his children, and his children’s children. “A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just” (Proverbs 13:22 KJV)
The man who brought you forth may not be a good man but he is still your father. Your father may have left you nothing but he is still your father. My prayer for all men is that we would be more than fathers! I pray that God would raise up more good men to father the next generation of men.
The will of God according to Malachi 4:6 and Luke 1:17 is that there would be a stronger emotional heart felt connection between fathers and children. This is God’s idea of fatherhood. To God, fatherhood is a relationship.
I pray for a revival and restoration of emotional connection between fathers and children. As we celebrate fathers, let there be revival and a restoration of an emotional connection between all fathers and their children. Be connected and stay connected. Reconnecting emotionally with between fathers and children will;
1. Stop curses:
Without fathers who are connected to their children, there will be a curse in the land.
2. Prepare a people for the Lord:
Luke 1:17 teaches this clearly. Turning the fathers to children prepares us as a people for the Lord.
3. Prosper and live long:
Ephesians 6:1-3 teaches us that honouring our fathers is a secret to prosperity and long life.
4. Blessing:
Those who connect to their fathers get refreshed and blessed by the fathers.
When we honour our fathers, the land shall be blessed and delivered from wrath and curses. May God help us to reconnect with our fathers.
I love you
