[Romans 7:17-18 KJV] “Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. [18] For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not”.
Many of us have a purpose to do what is right, but we lack the know how or the plans to discharge our charge. As we have been confessing lately from the hymn, ‘we have a charge to keep, a God to glorify, a never-dying soul to save, and fit it for the sky’. We all know what to do, but only a few, if any, know how to do it. In Roman’s 7:17, Apostle Paul states very clearly that he knows what to do, but not how to do it.
How then can you discharge your purpose? How can you do what you have to do? Many are the purposes and intents in our hearts, but only few of us will be able to carry it out to the end; to a fruitful conclusion. What simple keys can guide you as you arise to discharge your mandate?
1. In 2019, honour your pastor and messengers sent to you:
Those who receive us have received the one who sent us. Those who really want to honour the king honour the donkey he is riding on. 1 Thessalonians teaches us to know them that labor among us and admonish us; to esteem them highly in love.
[1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 KJV] “And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; [13] And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves”.
2. In 2019, forgive more.
1 Thessalonians 5:14-15 teaches us to exhort the feeble-minded, warn the unruly and forgive all men.
[1 Thessalonians 5:14-15 KJV] “Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men . [15] See that none render evil for evil unto any man ; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men”.
We should learn to forgive more in order to detoxify our spirits and souls. Unforgiveness will choke your spirit and not allow you to function freely. You must learn to forgive; don’t allow people to be disorderly around you. There will be some people who will take advantage of the fact that you will always forgive and mess up with you; warn the unruly, and comfort the feeble-minded.
3. In 2019, pray without ceasing and in all things give thanks:
[1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 KJV] “Pray without ceasing. [18] In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you”.
Praying without ceasing is the key to doing greater things and exploits. In all things give thanks. Let us hope for the best but plan for the worst, and thank God in all things. He always has a greater plan and a better understanding of things than any mortal man. We must arise to prayer and pray more this year as we journey. That is how we can live the life.
4. In 2019, do all not to quench the Spirit and despise not prophesying:
But prove all things and hold fast to that which is good.
[1 Thessalonians 5:19-23 KJV] “Quench not the Spirit. [20] Despise not prophesyings. [21] Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. [22] Abstain from all appearance of evil. [23] And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ”.
The testimony of Christ is the spirit of prophecy. By the power of prophecy, we shall keep hope alive and keep the fire burning. Prophecy comes for comfort, and exhortation, and edification.
You can live the life and win when you follow these guides. Be blessed.
I love you;
