[James 5:16 KJV] “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much”.
Everything we need for life and godliness has been given to us. These things are deposited in our spirits and they are activated by prayer and fasting and meditation. They are activated as you fast and pray and meditate. The whole process of fasting is actually dying to self and allowing God to increase in you. Therefore, we must learn to fast, pray, hear, meditate, and obey the voice of reasoning and the word.
We know that prayer fundamentally is communication with God, a divine privilege and channel by which mortal men and women can access God. Prayer is that supernatural realm in which men and women can run to and find solace in the day of need. The Scriptures exhort us to come boldly before the throne of grace in prayer in the day of need that we might receive help. Prayer is a channel and a place of grace. [Hebrews 4:16 KJV] “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need”.
Prayer brings healing and restoration to bad situations. Prayer brings wellness and strength and power, especially when we confess our faults to one another. When we pray for one another, we get healed. The most effective channel to heal the church is to pray for one another.
Five simple facts about prayer that avails much are as discussed below;
1. Must be Effectual:
The word effectual means effect-producing action, in fact, of something that is binding or valid. Effectual prayers, therefore, are a binding or valid prayer. That is to say that if you know a reason why the thing is not working and you keep it to yourself, your prayers will not produce the intended results.
In other words, don’t tell us to pray that you might lose weight when you are secretly eating junk food. If you know of any reason why the thing is not working confession it to us. Therefore, effectual prayers are covenant, sincere, agreement, and honest prayers.
2. Must be fervent:
To be fervent is to be with zeal and amber and fire. Fervent prayers have passion, tenacity, and drive. Fervent prayers are loud and intense and with strong crying. Fervent prayers are driven by burden and pain. Fervent prayers have intensity and force.
3. Must be of the righteous:
Righteousness is imputed by faith. The Bible says, Abraham believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness. Faith is the seed for righteousness when you believe, it is counted to you as righteousness. [Galatians 3:6 KJV] “Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness”.
We can, therefore, say that intense, honest and faith-filled prayers avail much. Such prayers release great power. This means they make great power available. Our church will be filled with great power and health when we learn to confess our faults and pray for one another with sincere, fervent, faithful prayers. I see a new day and I see great things happening!
Be blessed, I love you!

i now understand that honest confession is a key to effectual prayer. and that righteousness is inputed (the act of putting something in a thing to make it succeed) by my belief in Christ. God bless you Bishop for teaching us. Amen.
