The greatest virtues we must seek to develop as men are the virtue of being responsible, submissive, and faithful.
[1 Timothy 5:8 KJV] “But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel”.
I believe that the greatest virtues we must seek to develop as men are responsibility, submission, and faithfulness to God. We were created in the image and the likeness of God to rule in the stead of God. This makes us stewards of God, hence the need to be responsible, submissive, and faithful.
Before accepting a man’s proposal, I always counsel young women to settle for a man who knows his responsibility and is both submissive and faithful to live up to it. In fact, the Bible does not rate men by the loudness of their prayer or how many Scriptures they can quote or rattle. Men are rated by the depth of their knowledge of their responsibilities and how faithful they are to live up to it. Every young man must strive to know his responsibilities and be faithful to live up to them.
The second quality I want to discuss is submission. Inasmuch as the man is the head of the woman, God is the head of the man and for that matter, the head of the home. Any man who can lead well must first of all be submitted to Christ. You can lead well when you look up to God. Every man must strive to learn submission if he wants to increase his rating. There is nothing disastrous as an arrogant man trying to exercise authority. It is even disgusting.
The Bible emphasizes, however, in the text above that an irresponsible man is worse than an infidel regardless of his ranking in prayer and the word. In fact, he’s worse than even a common criminal. I pray, therefore, that every man will receive grace to master his mission, mind, money, and marriage.
Mission
Mission, because that is why you exist. Each of us was created for a purpose and a place. We are blessed to be fruitful, multiply, replenish and subdue the earth, and to have dominion over every creeping thing (See Genesis 1:26-28).
Men were not created to rule their wives and lovers; we were created to guide the home and lead the sisters. We must both find and fulfill that purpose in the place we presently find ourselves.
Mind
The Bible says “as a man think in his heart so is he”. This is why the quality of a man’s thought pattern determines his grade. Apostle Paul admonished Titus to tell men to be sober. If you allow anything to mess up your mind, you will mess up. As you age and grow, every one of us must strive to mature in our thought pattern.
Money
Indeed, money answers all things under heaven; but coveteousness is as the sin of idolatry. Every one of us must strive to be content with such as we have, be faithful with unholy mammon, and be diligent at work to earn enough to live an honest peaceable life. Greed and haste to be rich kills.
Marriage
Finally, remember that if you ever find love, God has entrusted you with favour; cherish and nurture your spouse by the water and nourishment of the word and God’s grace.
I have no doubt that you are becoming a better person from today.
Stay blessed, I love you!
Hallelujah. A great word indeed. Am blessed. Thank you Pastor.
