[Isaiah 5:1-6 KJV] “Now will I sing to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My wellbeloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill: and he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.”
“And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, betwixt me and my vineyard. What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?”
“And now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down: and I will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.“
I want to exhort you on three things that affect the quality of growth you may experience. It is important to understand that growth does not happen in vacuum, it takes place in the context of certain things. Growth is intentional and must be systematic. You must intentionally pursue growth and not leave it to chance.
3 simple things that will affect the quality of growth are:
- The quality of seeds you put in your soil.
- The quality of preparation the grounds receive.
- The quality of care or nurturing the plantings receive.
I believe that we should be intentional about the kind of seeds we put in the ground, the preparation we put into sowing and the attention we give the plants. We must intentionally dig and dung around the plantings. Everything you have planted require your attention and care. Whatever you put into the ground must be watered; but remember a bad seed cannot yield good fruits. The seed of wild grapes would yield wild grapes fruits.
The role of the soil in the growth and fruiting is in the strength of the yield not the quality of the fruits. A good soil gives a good yield not necessarily good fruits. The quality of the fruits depends on the quality of the seed.
It is important to also understand that potential of fruiting depends on the care the vine receives. Your plants will bear fruits when you care for it but the quality and strength of yield depends on the quality of the seed and the preparation given to the soil respectively.
Be careful what sorts of seeds you allow into your soil; beware of what kind of soil, you recieve the seeds into; and improve on the care the plantings receive and you will be fruitful. A bad heart cannot be very productive; a bad seed can not yield good fruits; and a bad husbandry will not guarantee fruits.
Stay vigilant!
