[Ephesians 5:18-21 KJV] “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; [19] Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; [20] Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; [21] Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God”.
Once in a while, we all need a mood booster; especially in this day and time when there are so much anxiety and panic. Many are fatigued and stressed. Many are stressing and depressed, hence, increased dependence on alcohol and drugs.
In this piece of scripture, however, the apostle Paul teaches on how to boost your mood without being filled with alcohol or drugs.
The secret is being filled with the Holy Ghost:
The first secret to boost your mood is to be filled with the Holy Spirit rather than being filled with wine wherein is excess. Honestly, all men will either depend on the influence of wine or the Holy Spirit to have a merry heart and to overcome the challenges of everyday life.
The second secret is to speak to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melodies in your heart to God:
Our singing must be speaking and in harmony. It is, therefore, important to select the right songs for the moment and the service. Moreover, you must sing the words out. You must sing out and the words must stand out.
You must also sing within a sequence of notes that make music. You must sing within a key and sing to make harmony with others.
Understanding this scripture will help us to understand the practical steps to be filled with the Spirit as a church and as individuals. This will help us to raise a church that is not only in attendance but in being the church in our communities and circles. This will also help the music minister understand the unique roles that they play in crafting faith.
A church that jokes with the music ministry, is joking with the spiritual life of the church. The music and singing place a major role in crafting and nurturing faith. Our songs are not just to God but also to boost our moods. The singing and songs are mood boosters.
The third secret is giving of thanks:
Without a grateful heart, we cannot impact the spirit through singing. Gratefulness leads to contentment and happiness. We must learn to be thankful for our little victories in order to stay happy and joyful. This is an important secret to boost your mood and stay happy. Your moody look dries up your bones.
The final secret is to submit yourself to one another in the fear of the Lord:
Without a submitted heart, a worshipper is nothing but a clinking cymbal. Submission brings joy. Submission will make you happy. Try it! This a mysterious secret to finding greater joy; submission.
I have no doubt that this is a new day and the Lord shall bring us greater joy. You will not know a sad day anymore. The Lord shall fill your mouth with laughter. You will know greater joy and excel.
Be blessed, I love you!
