Fasting and prayer means that prayer is the accompaniment of the fasting; it is like saying, I want to fast and pray.
It’s the art of abstaining from food, pleasure, and exertion to wait on God. Fasting is separation and prayer is communication with God.
Establish a clear purpose for the fasting and prayer
There is always a motivation for deciding to wait on God and the more godly the reason, the more effective the fast. Isaiah 58 exhorts that when we fast as appointed by the Lord, we get results faster.
Repent and renounce
Repentance and renunciation is a central pillar to make fasting and prayer effective. The scriptures teach that when men acknowledge the truth and repent, they can free themselves of anything that takes them captive at will.
Make time to pray, study the word, and fellowship with the Lord
Fasting without prayer is not effective. Your prayer adds alot of value to the fasting. In the time of fasting, speak to the Lord about your needs and pray until something happens.
Forgive those who have wronged you and pray in faith!
Remember that forgiving is more important demand for answered prayers.
Stay blessed.
