[Psalm 107:22-24 KJV] “And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, And declare his works with rejoicing. They that go down to the sea in ships, That do business in great waters; These see the works of the LORD, And his wonders in the deep.“
I want to teach you how to prepare a sacrifice of thanksgiving. There are many types of sacrifices: the sacrifice of praise, the sacrifice of righteousness (See Psalm 4:5), the sacrifice of peace (See Leviticus 7:11) etc, but on Sunday, we want to offer the sacrifice of thanksgiving because we have gone out and about and returned safely. We have seen the wonders of God. We are as men that go to sea; we have seen the wonders of God.
It is important for you to understand that God can reject your sacrifice. You must prepare your sacrifice of thanksgiving well if you want God to have respect for it.
[Genesis 4:1-5 KJV] “And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD. And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.”
“And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: but unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.“
There are about three reasons why God may despise a sacrifice of thanksgiving. This is because a sacrifice of thanksgiving is as worship. It must be done in truth and in spirit. 3 reasons why God may despise a sacrifice of thanksgiving are: What is being offered as a sacrifice, how it was offered, who is offering it.
“And when ye will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving unto the LORD, offer it at your own will.” (Leviticus 22:29 KJV)
I want to exhort you to pray that your thanksgiving offering and the sacrifice of thanksgiving shall be accepted by God. The story of Cain and Abel was not written for nothing. This story is in the scriptures to warn and admonish us. We must learn and understand that God can reject your offerings and sacrifices. So then;
- Pray that God will show you what to offer and offer it willingly
- Prepare yourself
- Pray that God will recieve your offering

- Thank God for a fruitful 2022. Bless Him and hallow His name. The Lord has been good and gracious.
- Pray that God will by His Holy Spirit show you what to offer and pray that God will have respect for our sacrifice of thanksgiving.
- Pray that God will purge us of iniquity and contempt that could stain our sacrifice of thanksgiving. Pray that you shall be washed and purged.
- Pray that the sacrifice of thanksgiving we offer this weekend shall come before God as a sweet smelling savour.
- Pray that God will search your heart and forgive you as you forgive all those who have wronged you. Forgive and release them to go.
- Pray and rebuke any beast that will try to feed on our sacrifice. Drive them away by prayer and fire! Pray!
