I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers. This is my sincere desire. This is what it pray about, but many of us are not excelling, and I wonder why.
I want to exhort you on some thoughts that the Holy Spirit shared with me. I want to teach a few things we can do to excel.
[3 John 1:1-3 KJV]“The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth. Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.”
It is important to remember that many of us are not excelling or being fruitful because of the following;
- We don’t seek first the kingdom and the righteousness of God.
- We don’t take our dreams seriously; we joke with dreams and visions.
- We are not engaging the word properly.
- We are not planted in a place where the gardener can dig and dung around us.
- We are not pursuing anything worthwhile with passion, power, and wisdom.
What you can do to excel
We will do well and excel when we learn to:
1. Seek first the kingdom and the righteousness of God.
The Bible teaches in Matthew 6:33 that if you shall seek first the kingdom of God and the righteousness of God; all other things which the world seek after and run after shall be added unto us.
This is the first secret to living your best life until you transition into eternal glory. We must all be aware that death is inevitable and must live being ready to give an account of our lives when the roll is called up yonder.
Seek first the kingdom and the righteousness of God; so that all other things which the world is seeking after will be added to you, and you will not lose your precious soul even if you gain the whole world.
2. Take our dreams seriously; we joke with dreams and visions.
I have already taught extensively on the fact that dreams and visions are interfaces by which the supernatural touches the natural. Dreams and visions are real places where spiritual exchanges take place.
It was in the realms of dreams and visions that Solomon received wisdom, wealth, and long life.
Dreams and visions are realms of finding direction and strategy. Dreams and visions are special doors that we must not take for granted.
3. Engage the word properly.
The third thing we can do to excel is to learn how to engage properly with the word. We must learn to engage with preaching to receive the supernatural touch of the Word. The lame man at a city called Lystra in the Bible, received his healing because he engaged with the speaker.
We must also learn to abide in Christ and allow His word to abide in us. The Bible teaches that without Christ we can do nothing. However, if we abide in Him and His word abides in us, then we can ask for whatever we want and it shall be done. (See John 15:5)
Finally, Psalm 1 teaches that we must meditate on the word to be fruitful. I pray that you will find more time to meditate on the word to be fruitful and have good success. (See Joshua 1:8-9)
4. Be planted in a place where the gardener can dig and dung around you
Remember, like figs, we will not bear fruits until someone digs around us and add dungs to our soil. We must be fertilized and dug around. Things in the environment that compete with us for nutrients must be uprooted by the gardener. Be planted in a place where you will be dug around and fertilized by the gardener.
5. Pursue something worthwhile with passion, power, and wisdom.
The Bible teaches that there is profit in all labour. We must arise and do something worthwhile, no matter how small.
The truth is, your beginning may be small but your end shall greatly increase. Don’t despise the days of small beginnings.
Stay blessed
