Success is one of the key things almost all humans desire. It is one of the fundamental needs of man after survival, security, and significance. Everyone wants to succeed; I will therefore want to share 5 things you must be able to master or subdue if you want to win in life.
- The adversary
- Your spirit
- Your body
- The earth and the fullness thereof
- Your tongue
These are five things that can stop any man on the face of the earth. Many have failed in life because they were unable to master these things. We must strive to beat these things down and master them.
1. Resist the adversary
The Bible teaches us that our adversary, the devil is roaring like a lion seeking whom he may devour; we must resist him steadfastly and he would flee. Your ability to resist the adversary is key and strategic to succeeding in life.
[1 Peter 5:8-9 KJV] “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.”
2. Control your spirit
The Bible teaches that a man who cannot rule or subdue his spirit is like a city whose walls are broken down. You must learn how to rule your spirit. Many people have gone to jail and others to an early grave because they could not rule over their spirits.
[Proverbs 25:28 KJV] “He that hath no rule over his own spirit Is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.”
3. Beat your body under
The body or the flesh is one of the biggest barriers to success. People who learn to master their bodies excel in life. Apostle Paul was determined to keep his body under so that he does not get trapped. He brought his body under subjection. This is one thing we must strive to do.
[1 Corinthians 9:27 KJV] “but I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”
4. Subdue the earth
The earth has physical and social systems. Those who learn how to subdue the relief systems as well as circumvent the system usually succeed. You must receive strength to win over nature.
5. Subdue your tongue
Last on my list of things you must subdue if you want to excel is your tongue. The tongue is a little body part, yet it can destroy a man’s whole life.
[James 3:5-6 TLB] “So also the tongue is a small thing, but what enormous damage it can do. A great forest can be set on fire by one tiny spark.
[6] And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is full of wickedness, and poisons every part of the body. And the tongue is set on fire by hell itself and can turn our whole lives into a blazing flame of destruction and disaster.”
You must learn to control your tongue if you want to excel.
