Hosea 4:6 state clearly that the people of God are destroyed for lack of knowledge. This suggests that all things being equal the people of God should not be destroyed. We are called and appointed to live a higher life. We are ordained to prosper, to be healthy and safe, but some of us are destroyed because they are ignorant of the hidden roots of trouble and calamity.

Exhortation

But I believe with all my heart that as you allow Jesus Christ, the word of God, to be the mighty one in your life, He would uproot every hidden source of trouble.

Our Mighty One however tells us that it is knowledge of the truth that brings liberation (John 8:32). Anyone who believes and continue in faith and seek to know the truth shall be free from the paralysing effect of hidden roots.

Three key steps from the text are;

1. Believe
2. Continue in the Lord’s doctrine
3. Strive to know the truth

Then and then only shall you be free. So faith, continuity, and knowledge of the truth are the three ingredients to a life of liberation and freedom.

Few hidden source of problems in families are

1. Famished leaders and dried up multitudes;

Isaiah 5:13-14 states emphatically that hell or destruction has enlarged her mouth beyond measure because of the absence of resources and juicy leaders with milky breasts. This leads to a dried up generation. What we should pray for are instructed fathers and leaders. When the father’s and leaders become enlightened the society also gets filled with nourished and trained multitudes.

2. Loving money more than knowledge;

Quite apart from the fact that the love of money is the roots of all evil, Ecclesiastes 7:12 also teaches that wisdom is a defence as money is a defence. That is to say that money can offer a defence just as wisdom does or wisdom can offer defence just as money does but the advantage of wisdom over money is that, wisdom does not just offer a defence but it also gives life to those who have it.

For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.

When you have a generation that would rather sell iced water in traffic than go to school, we are culturing trouble.

3. The devices of the devil;

2 Corinthians 2:11 reveals how Satan has devices. He has so many devices and schemes to steal, kill and destroy everything that pertains to life and godliness (See John 10:10, 2 Peter 1:3) Beware! Pray that God would make you sharp and skilful to handle his scam and schemes.

4. Selfish ambitions:

Any family that has elements or people with selfish, parochial, carnal ambitions is nurturing trouble. Ammon by selfish craving, Absalom by selfish ambition, and Adonijah by conceit did much harm to David’s family

5. Curses:

This is real. A curse is a prayer, a word or an enchantment invoked to cause injury or harm to a person, thing, or place. This is one of the major causes of trouble in many families.

I invoke the power and blessing in the blood of Jesus Christ to break the hold of any hidden roots in your life. As you read this truth may every hidden roots behind any failure in your life be uprooted in Jesus’s name!
