Forgive! Bearing a grudge does not hurt anybody but you. Nothing is as injurious to a fellowship of believers or a family or society as the roots of bitterness.
Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; (Hebrews 12:15 KJV)
Look around you and around the world, consider how many ethnic conflicts have been fought and how many lives have been claimed simply because one person or the other could not forgive.
Look at Rwanda’s genocide; consider Uganda; look at Northern Ghana; have you heard or read about the Andanis and Abudus? Did you hear about the Kokombas and Dagombas? Consider the lives that were lost in these ethnic clashes all because someone could not forgive.
As children of God and members of one body, learning and committing to forgive will help us to build a healthier society. God is calling on us today to forgive those who offend us and seek the forgiveness of those we offend.
We live in a world of imperfect people, so we may offend others and others may offend us too. Hence the need to forgive and not bear grudge. Bitterness troubles the soul defiles many and destroys fellowship.
When we forgive those who offend us, we also find forgiveness for our own wrongs. God will not forgive us for our trespasses if we don’t forgive others. My good friend, I exhort you today to forgive.
Unforgiveness hinders prayers. Unforgiveness may shut up Heaven to us. When we forgive others, Heaven smiles on us favourably.
Forgiveness opens up Heaven to receive our offerings. Heaven rejects the offering of people who are holding a grudge. When people offend you remember it is the devil’s strategy to shut up Heaven against you. Forgive immediately and move on.
I pray that you will receive grace to forgive and move on.
