To be double minded is to swing, waver or oscillate between two extremes.
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways” (James 1:5-8 KJV)
Many of God’s precious children fail in life and in their pursuits because of double mindedness.
A person who cannot make up his or her mind cannot receive anything from God. You must be decided, if you can receive anything from God.
Disloyalty
The problem of double minded people is that they are prime candidates of disloyalty. They are Satan’s prime target. Double minded people easily betray a cause.
No man will steal from a nation or from a man or woman he or she is willing to die for. Double minded people are dangerous people. People who are not decided waste everybody’s time.
Polluted hearts
The second problem with double minded people is that they have impure or polluted hearts. The think evil about others in their hearts, and they are always the ones who won’t put in their all, and yet they poison others who want to work. When you entertain impure thoughts, you will become unstable.
Paranoia
Double mind people have paranoid ideas. This is what makes them time wasters. They drag their feet and pollute others who want to work. Their double standards infest every team they join. They pollute the spirits of others.
Elijah could bring down fire because he challenged the people to choose and be decided. “Chose who you will serve; If God is God then serve him; if Baal be God serve him” (1 Kings 18:21) The Bible also says “No man can serve two masters” (Matthew 6:24); you can only serve one.
In the army that Gideon led, God separated the fearful and double minded people from the rest of the army (Judges 7:4-7). God would rather prefer to have 3 people who are decided to work than 3000 double minded folks.
Opportunism
Most double minded people are opportunist. They are always looking for sides that look greener.
Double mindedness is a deadly weapon; discard it now or you will lose your answers in prayer. Double mindedness will rob us of answers in prayer.
The only cure for double mindedness are;
- Drawing near to God
- Purifying your heart
- Bringing closure to the deal
“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded” (James 4:8 KJV)
I pray you will be decided. You will not entertain impure thought. I pray you will deal with negative thoughts as soon as is possible. May you accept the will of God and focus on your lot. You shall till and cultivate your lot and you shall prosper in Jesus’ name! Amen!
I love you!
