Today we want to study briefly the life of Hezekiah and identify four barriers that could stop him from arriving at the place that God had planned for him.

“Hezekiah began to reign when he was five and twenty years old, and he reigned nine and twenty years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah.  And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord , according to all that David his father had done” (2 Chronicles 29:1-2 KJV)

The Bible tells us that Hezekiah became king at age 25 and reigned for 29 years; In fact, all that he did was right before God because it was according to all that his father David had done. It’s important to note some of the things that helped the king to please God. 2 Chronicles 29 begins to tell us about some of the very important things the king did and what almost marred his decision to do it.

The Bible tells us of how he restored true worship to Israel. How did he know the importance of worship to the prosperity and safety of Israel? How did he know what touches the heart of God?

A good example to follow:

The first and number one barrier between us and destiny is the lack of good example to follow. Though Hezekiah did not have a father in his life to follow, He did the right things because he followed his father David. Hezekiah could do right because he had an example to follow. He did according to the ways of David. The lack of following the right example can work against your destiny. Though God has prepared us for greatness and success, having the right example to follow is important. You must have a good example to follow to reach further faster.

A repaired place of worship:

The second barrier between this generation and destiny is the lack of prepared places of worship. Many in this generation do not have a place of worship where they call home. A generation that has a place of worship they call home succeeds faster. May you know and recognise your feeding trough in the name of Jesus Christ! Our bodies are the temples from which true worship begins. May we repair our bodies and sanctify them for worship.

A generation of men and women who are ready to work:

The third barrier to destiny is an unprepared work force. The problem with many poor countries is the lack of skilled and prepared labour. We can journey to destiny faster when we learn to be ready, and do as we are told. May God prepare us for the work ahead in the name of Jesus Christ!

A people prepared to sacrifice:

The fourth barrier to destiny is selfishness. The lack of selfless sacrifice is a major barrier to destiny. A people who are not ready to love and die for a cause are part of the barrier to the journey to destiny. There is nothing as intimidating to the enemy than to find a generation of men who are zealously carrying their cross ready to live and die for the cause of Christ.

May the Lord empower us to deal with every barrier between us and destiny. May you advance and see the light of day! May the will of God be done in your life and May you win in life. Stay blessed.

I love you

Let’s Talk It Over

  • How real are these barriers in the life of a modern day believer?
  • How can dealing with these barriers help you to fulfill your destiny?
