Luke 18 is a very important chapter of the Bible. It teaches the keys and barriers to possessing your miracles, healings and answers to prayers. Every child of God must enjoy answered prayer. The child of God must have the ears of God and testify that heaven hears his or her voice. Prayer is the breath of the child of God.
Prayer releases possibilities and encourages our faith. Those who pray and seek God must receive answers. It is the key to greater blessings and possibilities. Prayer brings us to the mountain of the Lord, “to Zion, where there is deliverance, healing and the possessing of possessions” (Obadiah 1:17). Prayer is the breath of the child of God. Prayer will put you in command. Let me discuss below some obstacles to answered prayer. We must overcome these barriers if we want to see the hand of God.
Lack of importunity
Luke 18:2-8 teaches that the first secret to answered prayer is importunity: a widow that needed justice from an unjust judge got the verdict in her favour because she persisted in coming.
Self righteousness
Luke 18:9-14 teaches that we should not trust in our own righteousness and despise others. Humility is a great key to break through in prayer. It is God’s mercy and faithfulness that release the answers and not our righteousness. Don’t trust in yourself; trust in God’s mercy and faithfulness.
Not asking
Luke 18:15-17 exhorts us not to trivialize any prayer request. No request is too small to bring before God in prayer. I encourage you to pray about everything and don’t allow anyone to trivialize your request.
Materialism
In Luke 18:18-30, we learn not to allow our material possessions to stop us from taking the counsel of the Lord for our lives. You may have great possessions but these cannot be compared to the counsel of the Lord. The young ruler missed his place with the Lord because he focused on his possessions.
Intimidation
Luke 18:35-43 teaches us that you should not let other seekers intimidate you. Persist and push and heaven will answer.
You are entitled to answers. God answers prayers and you are not an exception. He will answer if he hears you pray. Ask and he will answer.
I love you and see you in Church one of these days.
