The Lord still speaks to His servants; He is speaking and is still speaking to you. There are four communication tools that He uses.
He uses these tools, which are in different grades and quality of speech, to make Himself known to His servants. Inasmuch as we are led by the Holy Spirit of the Lord, He speaks to His children moment by moment. The Lord wants to speak to you directly. He wants you to hear His voice and be instructed.
So we shall share four ways to identify that God speaking to us. In the scripture above we see four ways God speaks to us;

Dreams and visions:
Dreams and visions are very important part of God’s communication with His children. Joel 2:28 emphasizes that after the outpouring of the Spirit, dreams and visions will be one of the major ways by which God will speak to His children.
Dreams and visions are important tools in God’s communication with His children.
Job 33:14-18 teaches that God uses dreams and visions to seal instructions which men wont hear while they are awake.
“For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. (15) In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; (16) Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man. (17) He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.”
Dreams and visions are important tools God uses to communicate with us, so do not despise or take your dreams for granted.
Dreams and visions may be visual, audible, or even flow of thoughts.

Dark speeches (Parables):
The second communication tool God uses are dark speeches. These are parables and wise sayings and symbols. (See Proverb 1:6, 1 Chronicle 14:15)
It is important to pay attention to dark speeches. When the king of Babylon saw the handwriting on the wall, he was trouble. How come you don’t even see the hand writing nor get troubled over a dark speech which the Lord is showing you, until you understand them.

Mouth to mouth:
The third tool of communication is mouth to mouth talking. This is the technique in which God puts His word in the mouth of a person.
This is one of the highest levels to God communicating to a man. When your own mouth is filled with the wisdom or knowledge you need. Mouth to mouth is like a tete-a-tete or head to head talk. This is a deep spiritual intercourse that secures the content of whatever prophetic word that was downloaded.

Similitudes of the Lord:
In the forth communication tool, God uses His similitudes to communicate with us. This is also one of the highest tools or spiritual technology to transfer information. (See James 3:9; Deuteronomy 4:15-16; Daniel 10:16)
Similitudes are forms and images of God. For example, when God led Israel in a cloud by day and pillar of fire by night, it was real clouds and real fire.
When Israel drank from a rock, it was a real rock, this rock followed them. The rock was a similitude of the Lord. The rock was not a geographical feature. The rock was Christ.
