Can you imagine how much spiritual virtue will fill the world if all of us understood the dynamics of praying with fasting? Indeed, we all pray and pray always but there always comes a time when we need to pray with fasting. I want to exhort you this morning to prepare your heart and mind for a season of praying with fasting.
“Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.” (Matthew 6:16 KJV)
We must find and spend time to pray with fasting. This is our reasonable sacrifice to receive power. You can never fail when you pray with fasting. What is fasting? How is it done? When should we pray with fasting?
Fasting is a willing abstinence from some or all foods, drinks or both for a period of time; usually for a period of 24hours or a number of days.
Look up to the title again; When you fast! The Lord expects that we will fast some days and some times. You and I must pray with fasting. When you fast… The most important reason to fast is that the Lord expects us to fast. The Lord looks forward to the day when we can abstain from food, drinks, and pleasure; just to get close to Him. He is really expecting it.
I will be pleased and overwhelmed when my family decides to abstain from everything else just to spend time with me; wow! The Lord is waiting to see you fasting because you want to spend the time with Him.
There must come a time when you choose to pray with fasting. May you prepare yourself to pray with fasting. May you never miss the opportunity to draw nigh unto the Lord. As you spend time with God, His nature rubs on you and you walk in the same power and authority.
