(Luke 18:22-25 KJV) “Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.
And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.”
Many years ago a young rich man came to Jesus Christ to find out what he must do to inherit eternal life. The Lord graciously told him that he could have eternal life if he would sell all he had and give to the poor, and then come and follow Him. The moral lesson of this story is not to show us how to inherit eternal life. Rather, it sets our focus on what we must do to be able to follow Him;
Believe:
Believe that God who is calling you to follow, Believe that He’s able to take care of that which concerns you. Believe that He will take care of your needs and concerns even as you follow Him.
Get smaller:
Many people are unable to follow Jesus Christ because they are unwilling to lose anything. The rich young ruler couldn’t follow because he wanted to hold on to everything and still come along. You can follow if you can get smaller.
Keep life simple:
You will be able to follow better if you can keep life simpler. You should not be complex. You should keep life simpler. It is about that time you kept a low profile.
What the rich young ruler lacked was faith and confidence in the Lord. If the Lord cannot take care of you, why would he call you? His faith was low. He could not believe, nor get smaller, or keep life simpler. If you really want to follow the Lord; believe, get smaller and keep life simpler.
I love you; stay blessed.
