Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.” (Deuteronomy 9:1-5 KJV)
As you journey through life and move from one place to the other; from nation to nation, and kingdom to kingdom, remember that the Lord our God shall be your defense, and the devourer of even stronger and mightier enemies from before you. The Lord, our God is a consuming fire! The Lord shall be your defense against evil and terror that flies at noon day. The Lord shall keep and defend you. The enemy shall not prevail against you.
Why would the Mighty One of Israel defend you and fight off any evil that rises against you? God will do it so that we can serve Him reverently and acceptably in godly fear.
“Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire.”
(Hebrews 12:28-29 KJV)
The Mighty One of Israel shall defend and fight off any evil projected against you. The enemy and evil projected against you might be mightier than you, but;
1. Remember that the Lord thy God is going before you to bring them down.
The Lord is a consuming fire. He is the Holy One of Israel, the Lord of host is His name. The breathe of His nostrils make mountains to skip and rivers to dry up.
2. Remember that the Lord will not fight them off to give us the victory because of the righteousness of our hearts.
The Lord will fight them off because of the evil of their hearts. It is just by grace. His grace has commanded his love over us as a banner.
3. Remember, the Holy One of Israel will do it to establish His covenant with our fathers.
God made a covenant with our father Abraham, and we have inherited this promise. God is committed to honour His covenant with our father Abraham.
The Holy One of Israel will be our defense and will fight off every beast and evil projected against us. We will win when we stick with God because He is going ahead of us to bring down the enemy before our faces. I am so grateful that it does not depend on how righteous we are but on how evil they are. I choose to honour God with my thoughts and actions.
